Renting at AirBnB is qualitatively different from renting from a landlord. With AirBnB you’re using someone else’s belongings, their valuables are in the apartment. You’re going to be there and gone in matter of hours or days. What guarantee does the lessor have that you’re not going to have a rager or steal the paintings off the wall?
Please note that the poison renting posted this on New Years eve. They were clearly in town to party.

Edit: to address the issue of trusting the company to act as mediators…I wouldn’t rely on that as my only line of defense. Consider that AirBnB has a reputation for use by prostitutes.
